host file

I am using suse 10 (gnome) and I want to block all access to the internet with the exception of domains I specify. It is for my girls and I only want them to be able to access sites like PBS Kids, disney, etc... On windows I would remove the dns server, then put the domains in the host file. Since i am relatively new to linux, I was wondering what I need to do to make this happen.

Any help is appreciated...

Linux also has a hosts file /etc/hosts and the dns servers? are here /etc/resolv.conf
but I think a better way to accomplish filtering at the http layer is with squid a web-proxy.
