Smile Help with access point: Not-associated new to Linux


Hi, Im new to linux and im having trouble getting on the net. Im using a 3com 3crwe154g72 version 2 WiFi, my linux is a Freespire linux XP, I was having some problems with the encryption key but thats sorted now, the problem I have at the moment is the Access point it says:
not associated.
The ssid is ok
Mode is manager
Frequency is 2.412 GHz
RTS thr is off

When I say im new this is the first time ive tried it.

k... what?

double check password? what does the access point need(wep, wpa-psk... etc)

Thanks for replying, It needs wpa-psk.
When I do sudo iwconfig I was getting:
Encryption Key: 0ff

now it has a string of numbers and a letter next to it(I presume its now on)but it still says:
Access Point: Not-Associated

I've retyped the password 4-5 times.
I've got it on Automatic dhcp.

What's your distro?
You need the key in wpa_supplicant.conf (use wpa_passphrase)
You may also need it in itit scripts (slack) or somewhere in /etc/sysconfig/
You might get out with Gnome Network manager and let that think for you.
