Has anyone used the Dell DW1504 (802.11 b/g/n) WLAN Card?

And know what chip it uses? I can't find any information on which chip it uses, and the laptop I just bought has this wireless card in it. While I can always replace it with an Intel card if it isn't linux friendly, I'm hoping to be able to use it without issues, but want to have everything ready when it comes in. Thanks!

This link indicates the card is Broadcom.

-->http://www.wireless-driver.com/dell-...-ver510082112/

However, that is not a lot of help, since it doesn't say exactly what chip set. That is all I could find.

The laptop is an E5430.

The http://kmuto.jp/debian/hcl/DELL doesn't have any listing of that laptop.

I got: About 162,000 results (0.21 seconds) at

http://www.googlinux.com/

just using your model number.

And all those results...found them myself. Not a single one that I've found is of the least bit useful in answering either of my questions.

There's 5 different wifi cards available for that model. 4 of the 5 I could care less about, which both of those you linked to aren't the model wifi card I care about...

That's why I asked if anyone had any experience with the 1504...that's the one my laptop has. I could care less about any of the other hardware, I already know it all works. I only care about this 1 piece of hardware and finding someone that knows if IT works without major frustration, or knows for sure what chip it uses since I can easily find if THAT works once I know it...

I tried googling my model already, I found not a single link that was of use, they all either didn't say what card they had, or specifically said they DIDN'T have the same card as I do. Nor did a single one I have found say WHAT chip is used in this card, so not a single one was of the least usefulness.

If anyone ever has this problem, it's a Broadcom BCM4313 (14e4:4727).

This driver -->http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php

from Broadcom appears to be the driver needed to support your card. If you look in the readme file, 14e4:4727 is listed as a supported card. This is from the readme:

Quote:
BRCM PCI PCI Dell
Product Name Vendor ID Device ID Product ID
------------- ---------- --------- -----------
4311 2.4 Ghz 0x14e4 0x4311 Dell 1390
4311 Dualband 0x14e4 0x4312 Dell 1490
4311 5 Ghz 0x14e4 0x4313
4312 2.4 Ghz 0x14e4 0x4315 Dell 1395
4313 2.4 Ghz 0x14e4 0x4727 Dell 1501
Look in your installation to see if you have the broadcom driver already. It may also be in the repos. I don't run Debain, so I can not check.
