Getting ypcat error when ypbind not running???

I have recently done two new RH9 installs on dells, both previously running RH7.2. The networking is setup essentially the same on each computer, except for the IP addresses of the machines. The first install is great and I have no networking problems. I have the same machines nfs mounted exactly the same way onto both RH9 machines. The second install, however, is giving me a ypcat error every time my .cshrc file sources a setup file that exists on one of the nfs mounted servers. The error is:

ypcat: can't get local yp domain: Local domain name not set
ypcat: can't get local yp domain: Local domain name not set

I checked to see that NIS was not running. I cleared everything out of /etc/yp.conf and ran authconfig --disablenis to make sure it was not running. ypbind is not listed in chkconfig --list and if I do a service ypbind stop, it fails because presumably ypbind is not running. The RH9 computer that works ALSO sources this setup file on the same nfs mounted machine in it's .cshrc file, but I get no ypcat error. I have compared various networking files on the two machines, such as /etc/sysconfig/network and they are identical (except IP address) and have no NIS domain defined. The hosts files are identical... the hosts.allow and .deny are identical.

This error is driving me insane. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
mdiwench
