Gateway Address
I had Crux installed earlier but got rid of it for awhile. At the time I had just got cable broadband access, but since then I've gotten a Dlink router for it.
Now I just reinstalled Crux and got everything working except the broadband connection. I'm having a problem with the IP addresses for it.
The instructions I'm using say to add the eth0 & gateway Ip numbers. Which numbers do I use, the Dlink router IP numbers, such as, 192.168.0.1, etc? That is what I see when I do an ifconfig command.
My other problem is how do I get the gateway IP address? I don't see it anyplace or know where to get it.
You'll have to give the Crux install a unique IP... Anything not already used on your network, and inside your netmask... If your D-Link is 192.168.0.1, then give it 192.168.0.x, where x is anything from 2 through 253, as long as it's not used by another computer on your network.
As for the gateway, enter the IP of the D-Link. When you request a web-page, your computer sends the request to the gateway IP. That will be the D-Link, which will then send the request to your ISP through the DSL connection.

Thanks for the reply. I seem to have gotten the IP addresses working but now when I ping a web name I get unknown host error. If I ping the IP number I get return results.
I've checked my /etc/resolv.conf file and have my ISP DNS in there. What else I need to check?
All this is trying to ping a website on the internet. I don't have an internal network setup.
This is the first distro that I've had a hard time getting the internet setup correctly.
