FTP and protocols problem

I suppose my problem is rather dumb, but that's why I'm a newbie
I have set up a Squid proxy for our office, and since Squid doesn't support SOCKS all the computers use HTTP for their FTP connections.
The problem is that with HTTP we can't create folders, delete files and so on.
This is really annoying as you can all guess.
My questions are: Can HTTP support all the functions of SOCKS (deleting dirs etc.) and if it can - haw? Or maybe there's something wrong with my firewall. And if HTTP is not the thing I need can someone tell how do ake SOCKS and SQUID work at the same time?
Thanks for any advice.

What is your end goal?
What are you trying to accomplish when you are done?

Would something like IPMASQ or NAT be a better solution?

Full FTP service

Right now if someone connects to and ftp site from a machine other than the firewall box, the only thing he can do is downloading and uploading( w/o overwriting). In other words: all the machines that conect to FTP hosts using HTTP can not delete files, create directories or overwrite old files.
Our office is small and it's no problem to move your files to the firewall PC and then use it to do all your FTP tasks from there but it is extremely inefficient. My goal is to make it possible for every machine to do all the things mentioned above. It is really important for us.

You could accomplish this by having the firewall machine do IPMASQ for FTP, HTTP, and whatever else you want.

I messed up with my configurations and managed to get it working.
Thanks for the advice. It really helped.
