freeswan kills internet connection

I have my redhat 9.0 box set up as a router, and i tried installing freeswan on it. FreeSWAN installs fine and verifies perfectly, but once i run "service ipsec start" it kills internet access for my workstations. They can see the server, but the server won't give them access to the internet.

As soon as i do a "service ipsec stop" everything returns to normal.

Any suggestions?
