File that contains network traffic

I used to tail -f a file to see network activity, but I can't for the life of me remember what that file is.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

nope. maybe text output from tshark or tcpdump?if you're tailing a file and not interpretting the contents, then clearly it is NOT network traffic, but analysis or payload data from the traffic.
