FC6 Transfer speed limit problem

I have FC6 on my Laptop, and i am unable to transfer files using MSN on a speed higher than 2.37 KB/S over the same network. Even though, when i had Windows XP it used to be extremely fast.

I thought that the transfer speed is limited by default on fedora, but i couldn't find the configuration to change it.

Any suggestion?

Thanks

Assuming you mean "samba (SMB)" and not "Microsoft Networks (MSN)"...

you are using cifs and not smbfs?
are you transferring to/from a windows box?

run ifconfig -a and look for RX & TX errors against eth0 & eth1

edit your smb.conf file on each PC so it is as so:

[global]
log level = 1
socket options = TCP_NODELAY
read raw = yes
write raw = yes
oplocks = yes
max xmit = 65535
dead time = 15
getwd cache = yes
lpq = 30
large readwrite = no

It was MSN (Internet Messenger) that i am using for chating.

I had Windows Xp on my laptop, and transferring files between my laptop and another pc on my Home network was extremely fast, but when i formatted my laptop and put Linux FC6 on it, i started having this problem.

It is very slow now to transfer files over MSN with Linux FC6 as the OS rather than Windows Xp.

I was wondering if it is something with FC6 configurations that i could change.

I don't know what SAMBA (SMB) is responsible on?

Could you be more clear please,

Thank you.

MSN clients for linux tend to be slow. Especially between a MS MSN client and a non-MS one. Apparently, in that case, the MS client refuses a direct connection and insists the connection goes via MS servers. This is going to be slower anyway, but what's the bet MS has content filtering etc on that connection?
