FC3 modem difficulities

im having problems with getting my modem to connect i have a conexant PCI modem and a US Roboitcs serial modem under the hardware section i have the device set as /dev/ttyS0 to use the serial modem the normal baud rate and then hardware it did connect once but i had the area code and not the prefix so it didnt go all the way does any one know what im doing wrong or not doing at all
