Ethernet pcmcia problem

Hi,

I'm trying use an old Toshiba Satellite laptop as a gateway. I've got two ethernet pcmcia cards (both 3c589) plugged in it, one connected to the cable modem, one connected to a switch.

What I want is both interfaces to be configured at boot-up.

Can somebody please tell me what the file /etc/network/interfaces should look like?

I've been trying for a whole day, reading howtos etc., but I can only get the external interface (eth0) configured at boot-up if it is the only card in the laptop. As soon as I add the second card (eth1), the eth0 interface doesn't get configured properly.

Specifications: Debian Sarge, kernel 2.4.27-2-386

Thanks, umk
