as i m trying to install ethernet driver for my new ethernet card, i downloaded it from internet it was a tarball i extracted it, i got script file with other files like Makefile, plz tell how to compile it and install it, as it is giving me errors while i tried to compile it, tell me stepwise procedure with location to place that module

Which distro you are using? which is you ethernet hardware model? What error you get during driver installation?
Generally installation instruction provided in README file.
BTW you need to install some development library to compile source.

C'mon, you should read the instructions on how to present your problem(s).
These fine people (gurus) don't have time to guess what hardware you have
or if you need a driver. Also, you should learn the Unix file system so you'll
know what every file is and all the commands needed and how to use the keyboard.
This will take you at least six months. I know it's a drag, however, it is worth it.
can you tell me if we install 32bit RHEL 5 operating system on 64 bit machine?? will it create a prob?? i thinks tht's y my linux not detecting my ethernet driver..., tell me plz, same prob wid my sound and video driver also
