Error extracting tar.bz2 file?

Hi everyone I have just installed Mint 12 to another PC and fitted a Tenda W322P wireless network card which comes with a linux driver on the disc, however it's in the form of a tar.bz2 file when I try to extract it I get the error message bzip2: (stdin) is not a bzip2 file
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: error is not recoverable: exiting now
has anyone got any idea what this error message means and how I can resolve it any help would be greatly appreciated,

Many Thanks

Graeme

You could start a command prompt and run the
Code:
file
command on it. That might give some information about what it actually is.

Alternatively it may have been corrupted during download. Did the place you downloaded it from give an MD5SUM, SHASUM1 or .sig for it?
