DWL-520+ w/ Redhat 9

Hello All.

I'm new to the linux world and have had many tribulations working with the "workaround" drivers for the DWL-520+. I have managed to get the drivers to load, however they don't seem to find the configuration files that I've created.

Ifconfig and iwconfig find the card as well, but don't let me manually change the settings either. My config is as follows:

eht1-cfg:
DEVICE=eth1
BOOTPROT=dhcp
MODE=2
CHANNEL=3
ESSID=myessid

The eth1-cfg is in both:
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices

Btw, I'm running the default 2.4.20-8 kernel.

this may be a stupid question but you did replace myessid with your actual essid that is set in your router configuration right??

Yes, I did.

I also managed to get it working with redhat 8 on another box and copied the config files to the redhat 9 machine. This resolved the problem.

Hey guys.. If the DWL 520 card working with your Redhat 9.00 could one ofyou send me some help getting mine working..? I am trying to use, should say, have tried to use the 650 and the 650 plus.

I have mine wired with a 3com right now and it can see the 2k box that shares the hub but the 2k also has a 650 wireless that works fine on the 2k but redhat 9.00 can't use it at all. no ping no nothing.

For the DWL-520+ and DWL-650+ check out the acx100 project on sourceforge.net. They have a good working "beta" driver, a very good howto, and a startup script. I have been using the DWL650+ card for about a month with lots of success.

For more information try searching this forum for ACX100 or DWL-650+
