Does SMB/CIFS have any advantage compared to NFS, apart from Windows compatibility?

Does SMB/CIFS have any advantage compared to NFS, apart from Windows compatibility? Wondering this because somewhere someone said NFS is chatty. Is SMB just as chatty? Any advantages apart from compatibility?

nfs is native to linux. You don't have to worry about dealing with permission compatibility between operating systems. Version 4 has better security features over version 3.

In addition most file browsers have built in ssh/sftp capability and if using keys fairly easy to connect to to a server / directory. sshfs fuse makes it easy to connect via command line.

I don't use samba between linux systems.
