dns server-what to put as ISP's nameserver when behind a proxy

I want to establish a caching DNS. My internet is behind a proxy. I have been given an IP address, so I assume its a case of establishing a static DNS. While configuring a caching server, in the forwarders list in "/var/named/chroot/etc/named.conf", I have to provide the ISP nameserver. But in my Network Connections, I I don't provide any DNS Server name. So what IP address should I put in the forwarders list. (Also, the named.conf file is present not in the location I specified above, but in /etc. Should I copy it and put it in its correct place ?)

If you can only reach the internet (BTW, you have your OWN internet???) through an http proxy, then you can't run an internet resolving DNS service through it, as DNS is not HTTP. If that isn't actually the case and you do have some unproxied internet access then it's your responsibility to know what your available DNS servers are for forwarding to. We have zero chance of being able to guess the correct addresses for you.

Thanks. I only wanted to have A DNS satisfying requesting of local clients not of external users, at least that is possible ? Also, why is the named.conf file not in its proper place (I have given the location in the previous post) ?

well if you're only doing local email and not forwarding queries then you don't need to provide any forwarders. This, however, totally contradicts a caching name server in every way possible. What are you actually trying to do?? As for the named.conf it's not in the wrong place, that'd be the configuration for a chrooted named instance, which is a good thing.
