DNS Help?

Hello, I could not find anything that I was looking for in the search so now I am here. I am trying to host a website on my home machine and be the DNS server for the local network. I am new to linux but have a general understandin of how DNS works. I have gone through a tutorial for setup, but I guess I do not know enough for that. I am running Fedroa Core 2 latest kernel.

I have set my /etc/resolv.conf with the Nameserver of local loopback. My forward zone file reads as follows :
;
; Zone file for my-site.com
;
; The full zone file
;
$TTL 3D
@ IN SOA ns1.my-site.com. hostmaster.my-site.com. (
200211152 ; serial#
3600 ; refresh, seconds
3600 ; retry, seconds
3600 ; expire, seconds
3600 ) ; minimum, seconds
;
NS www ; Inet Address of nameserver

my-site.com. MX 10 mail ; Primary Mail Exchanger

;
localhost A 127.0.0.1
www A 'cable modem IP provided by ISP'
mail CNAME www
ns1 CNAME www

Thats as far as I can go. I am not sure what the different records in my named.conf file mean or what information to use in them. Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
