disable services, now reboot

{running DEBIAN}

Hey guys, I am disabling services in my rc 2 directory and want to reboot the networking without rebooting the machine.

I tried /etc/init.d/networking restart and force-reload but that did not work.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know about Debian, but on the distros I've used, it's /etc/init.d/network restart.

You could also drop into runlevel 1 and then back into your default runlevel 3 (or 5)
Code:
/sbin/telinit 1
/sbin/telinit 5
