Difference between NAT and NO NAT

As per subject, can someone give me an authorative answer and possibly an example where either would be more suited please?

I know it is not entirely a Linux question, but thought you guys coiuld help.

Say you've got 10 clients. With one public IP, you'll need NAT. With 10 public IPs, you won't.
