Sorry, I would not expect to be that device dependent. It’s Intel Ethernet express/100, 82557. It does recognize the device but it is “inactive”. I use ifconfig but the RX packets=0. So, it does not even connects to network but the lights are on.
Do I need to do anything with IPV6INIT=0 that is in the config file?
OK, so it's ethernet, that's vastly important. So again, what does "inactive" come from? what distro is this? please actually list real details. ipv6 will not matter here, but then you've not said what config file you're even looking at. there *might* be an "ONBOOT" option in there which should be yes...
may be the wrong cable, do you need an xover cable instead of a straight one? one that hasn't been gnawed by a mouse? is there a dhcp server running to provide the address you need? what if you manually assign an IP?
I got the card activated!? I am not sure how but it is working now. But it will not connect to internet! Actually, if it will make any attempts it will kill the connection on my windows!? I guess, it has to do something with the router?
It was the NIC that caused the problems. I even installed UBUNDU over RHell5 and when that did not work I replaced the Intel NIC for Linksys NIC and it is working right on!
