Cups/Samba disable banner printing

Hello everybody

I am in a pinch and after weeks of up and down I cannot remove the banner pages when printing.

We have several computer on the network and all of them submit their jobs for printing to samba. Samba passes the job to CUPS and an accounting is done using pykota.

All of these are located on a RHEL5.

no matter what I do printing jobs that come from samba always have a banner page.

my samba print command is:
print command = lpr -l -r -h -P %p %s # added to prevent cover page(banner)

I checked using: http://localhost:631 that no banner page is set.

I tracked the banner page to this file:
/usr/share/cups/banners/standard

Any ideas where else should I look at?

thanks in advance

Check in /etc/cups/printers.conf

A printer that prints no banners should say:

JobSheets none none

while a printer that does will say something like:

JobSheets standard none

The first item is the "before" banner while the second is the "after" banner.

I checked it out.

It is already as "JobSheets none none".

I tried printing localling and there was no banner :|. So Where is the banner coming from? Samba? is there anyway to tell cups to omit banner no matter what?

here is the printer.conf file:

Same (similar) problem

I am having the same problem. I am not printing through Samba (as far as I can tell), only via CUPS and my printer is connected to a CentOS 5.3 machine.

Every print job (including test pages) from the Windows machines is preceded by a "banner" page. Pages (so far only test pages) printed from the CentOS machine do not have these banner pages.

The banner pages have the following text:

Code:
%%[Page: 1]%%
             %%[LastPage]%%
                           %%[ ProductName: ESP Ghostscript ]%%
My /etc/cups/printers.conf has the line "JobSheets none none" as specified. I have not been able to find a Ghostscript configuration file even though there is an /etc/ghostscript/ directory.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Angry Same here

I can't believe this still hasn't been resolved.

I'm having this same problem & it doesn't seem like this should be impossible to figure out (even though I can't...ha)

In my .conf file, in the CUPS Administration interface, and in the Gnome Printers manager, I have it specified that there should be no banner page/no JobSheets, and I'm still getting an annoying, ink-and-paper-wasting "CLASSIFIED" cover page every time I print something.

Please help!
