crossover connection

What is the absolute easiest way for two pc's running linux to transfer files using an ethernet crossover cable. I don't care about security. Thanks.

scp.

Not that the kind of cable you have is totally irrelevant. If you have no router or other DHCP service you'll probably need to manually address the eth0 interface on both boxes though, although if you're running NetworkManager they will possibly find their own 169.254.0.0/16 address automatically.

You can put any number in for IP address as long as the two are connected. 10.x.x.x or the 192.168.x.x or the APIPA if supported. The APIPA may take quite a long time to obtain on some systems and may not be enabled by default.

I just ipconfig a 10.10.10.1 and 10.10.10.2 and use them. dunno why.

Then use some installed way to copy over a network. There are a bunch of ways but your distro may not have them all.

Tftp is usually installed and in many it is enabled for some odd reason.
