Connecting to IRC using web interface

I have not used IRC on internet before. I need to connect to a particular server for getting support on an open source product. I cannot use a client as I am behind firewall and required ports are blocked. Is there any other way of connecting to IRC server? I tried CGI:IRC interface on some sites, but it never connects to desired server (Or any server for that matter) and shows "Not connected to IRC" message when I try to type any command in the command field.

Is there any alternate way to connect?

Not as a solution, but to see what your problem is, does "chat (dot) xmission (dot) com" work at all? It connects to "irc (dot) xmission (dot) com".

(The reason that I did not supply real addresses is because I need more than five posts to do that... sorry.)

No, I cannot. The page says "Transferring data" for some time and then shows "Done". If I try to give a command like /list, It says "Not Connected to IRC". I think I cannot upload a screenshot here with this post.
