Connecting to Computer using a differen OS

Please excuse when I posted it in the wrong forum.
We have two computers in our house .
Both connected to the same modem-router
One is Linux box they other A Mac pro workstation.
Is it possible to start the MAC box when it is a sleep from the linux box?
And is it possble to run MAC applications from the linux box which are on the MAC box ?
And what is the easiest why to share a printer ?

The easiest way to share a printer is to have a network-attached printer on the LAN for which drivers are available for both OSes. Or do you already have a non-network-attached printer that you want to use? If so it will be easier for people to answer if you give its make, model and method(s) of attachment.

Regards running Mac applications, I don't know, but you could start by putting a representative sample on a USB stick and trying to run them on the Linux system. That's going to fail if it's a dynamically linked executable and the libraries are not available or if it does Mac-specific calls, especially for the GUI. Have you considered running the Mac OS in a virtual machine on your Linux system?

For the Mac-sperts it would help if you quoted the version of the OS on the Mac.

Mac uses CUPS, the same printing system as linux, so doing this should be a no-brainer really.

See here or here

All I have until now is a USB printer.
It is a Epson D92
Up until now I have to unplug it from one PC and connect it to a other.
I was wondering if there where printers with I can connect to my router and use the mac address to print.

In the old days when TCIP was beginning to live ones can buy a switch box attach the boot computers and the printer to switch box .
Change the switch to change with computer can use the printer.

Did you read my post at #4 ?
Did you read those links ?

If your two PCs are connected to your router, then either one of them can be the "print-server" and the other can share the printer, using cups ( which is already installed on both the Mac and linux PCs )

Yes, you can buy routers that also have a socket for a printer, and they'll put your printer on your network as a "networked printer", but you don't need this.

There is "Wake on Lan", but it has nothing to do with the OS but with the bios.

Be aware that MAC is a Unix-OS as well as Linux. Which means that ssh, scp, and so on will run on both systems.

The first page of which is the cups-webinterface says that cups is the standard printing-system for mac and linux.
