Which distro are you using? There are various tools in each distro to set this up

I think you need to set the proxy server's IP as the gateway. I could be wrong though...

Dang, I've never used Slack before, so I am not sure what to tell you. Is there a big comprehensive configuration tool for it? If so, look in network device options, select the card you are using, and tell it the gateway is the IP address of your proxy. If that doesn't help, keep bumping this thread up on here and hopefully a Slack guru can help you

I really need help

Hi,
thanks for your efforts Dang. This is what is happening
network address 192.168.3.
subnet mask 255.255.255.128
default gateway 192.168.3.254

but then the proxy server address is 192.168.1.5

Now I configured the linux box to 192.168.3.50
subnet mask 255.255.255.128
default gateway 192.168.3.254

I am able to reach to the other windows 2000 machines on the LAN.I want to access the internet via this LAN which is using a proxy server of address 192.168.1.5
I even configured samba.Still i cannot browse the internet on the linux machine while I am able to ping the other machines which are the LAN and have interenet access using the same proxy server address 192.168.1.5
thanks in advance

You mean you want to browser the internet?
You just want to set up the proxy server in your browser.
