Post Complex OpenVPN setup and routing

Hi all,

I have a similar problem to a few other people in here, but still no definitive answer.
I am using OpenVPN to connect to my home network, and have got it working so that I can ping to/from the OpenVPN end-points (ie work PC to home SRV).

Here are the settings:

---------------------------------------------
XP PC: IP 10.1.x.x
VPN Virtual Adaptor: IP 10.8.0.2

Running OpenVPN (client):
client.conf:
remote home.ip.address
port 12345
dev tun0
ifconfig 10.8.0.2 10.8.0.1
secret static.key
ip-win32 manual
comp-lzo
keepalive 10 60
ping-timer-rem
persist-tun
persist-key
route 10.37.0.0 255.255.0.0
---------------------------------------------
|
INTERNET
|
---------------------------------------------
Home SuSE SRV: IP 10.37.1.8 / 255.255.0.0

Running OpenVPN (server):
server.conf:
dev tun0
ifconfig 10.8.0.1 10.8.0.2
port 12345
secret static.key
comp-lzo
keepalive 10 60
ping-timer-rem
persist-tun
persist-key
user nobody
group nobody
daemon
push “route 10.37.0.0 255.255.0.0”
---------------------------------------------

I know there is a 'route' command that needs to be added somewhere (either 'yast' or using 'route add -net') but, after trying one setting and breaking the network completely, I thought I'd 'phone a friend'!

Any help appreciated.

Hi joadoor,

I have exactly the same problem, did you fix this? Maybe you want to share your solution...

Thanks in advance.

What setting did you try?

I think the below line is not needed in the client.conf
route 10.37.0.0 255.255.0.0

The server is suppose to push the route to vpn client.
