Cisco vpn client user access

I am running Suse 10.0 and have the vpnclinet installed and working great;! only as root. When I run it as my typical account I get the following reply:

Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 4.8.00 (0490)
Copyright (C) 1998-2005 Cisco Systems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
Client Type(s): Linux
Running on: Linux 2.6.13-15.7-default #1 Tue Nov 29 14:32:29 UTC 2005 i686
Config file directory: /etc/opt/cisco-vpnclient

privsep: unable to drop privileges: group set failed.
The application was unable to communicate with the VPN sub-system.

I am still a Newbee and don't understand how to change rights to files/apps. Any help would be great, Thanks Donnie

you'd probably want to look into sudo and /etc/sudoers to allow non-root users to do this. alternatively you may get away with adding your chosen users to the wheel group. BUT BUT BUT you may also rather want to stop using the cisco client, and instead use vpnc, an open source one, which i find to be much nicer, as it basically doesn't enforce the rules the server / concentrator passes down, ie. leave local network connections open... further still though, if you're a gnome user their NetworkManager can integrate with it and provide a taskbar button to enable and disable it, dead nice like.

Here's a link to a KDE frontend for vpnc:

http://home.gna.org/kvpnc/en/index.html

And another one with python:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/gypsythings

I haven't used either but they seem nice.
