changing ip and dns name

I have a server that I have installed under a test name (t-serv1)and ip (176.16.78.12). Now I am through testing and I need to change the t-serv1 name to imagsrv2 plus the ip to a valid production ip (172.16.1.172).

Where do I go to change these so when I boot the ip and dns name are correct?

I changed /etc/host and /etc/sysconfig/network (HOSTNAME=)
but I still do not get the correct ip and name on boot.

What am I missing?

Thanks, j-me

Is it because you have to get an IP adress by your dchp server, or havent you an dchp server, who gives IP adress out on the network?

try edit this file
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

and change it to your needed IP (172.16.1.172)

Restart your network, if doesn't working try reboot your linux
