can't xfer file via tftp

I can connect to a tftp server I setup on SLES 10, but can't xfer any files. They timeout. See below:

rmccain@3N2DHB1:~> tftp
tftp> connect
(to) dss-cs99la07
tftp> status
Connected to dss-cs99la07.dss.state.la.us.
Mode: netascii Verbose: off Tracing: off Literal: off
Rexmt-interval: 5 seconds, Max-timeout: 25 seconds
tftp> put tftp_file.txt
Transfer timed out.

tftp>

Any ideas?
