Hey guys!

I've a problem with my WiFi on Debian 6 with BCM4312.

The problem is: I can see networks, but when I try to connect it just won't connect.

If I try to connect with wicd it keeps saying 'Bad password', but I'm sure it's the right password. I also can't connect to open networks.

Gnome Network Manager can't connect too: it keeps asking for password again and again (with huge intervals).

With /etc/network/interfaces I only get something like 'searching for DHCP server' many times and then it fails.

What I already did:

• Installed broadcom-wl driver
• Installed b43 driver (with this one I can at least see networks)
• Upgraded kernel and everything to unstable
• Tried x86 & x64 version of Debian

The weird thing is: it always worked fine in Ubuntu & Fedora.

Does anyone know how to solve this? I'm pretty familiar with Linux but I don't know too much about it.

I had this issue one time using Ubuntu when I upgraded from 10.4 to the newer 12 version. I could see networks and could see my own hidden network but I could not log on with proper password. My machine kept trying to auto connect to the wrong wifi. I ended up deleting my wifi and recreated it then I could cancel the auto connect on the previous one and it worked. Perhaps this will work for you.

Hey guys, I got it FINALLY working!

Here is how I solved it (I think, lol):

• Upgrade kernel to 3.2.x
• Install wl driver (not b43) following this tutorial

One question: I did apt-get dist-upgrade, so it upgraded many things. How can I only upgrade the kernel?

I'll reinstall Debian and try to install a new kernel and then wl driver to see if it really works this way!
