Hey all,
I tried following this guide to mount a school directory via NFS from my home gentoo machine to my school gentoo machine:
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Share_Directories_via_NFS
But whenever i try to mount it, I get:
Code:
thorium-ini hedpe# mount 128.237.247.74:/home/hedpe/PacketSwitching /tmp
mount: RPC: Remote system error - Connection timed out
My Port forwards in my linksys router:
Code:
portmap 111 192.168.1.100 111 both
nfs 2049 192.168.1.100 2049 both
nfs2 4001 192.168.1.100 4001 both
nfs_mount 32764-32767 192.168.1.100 both
Here is my /etc/exports:
Code:
hedpe@monster ~ $ cat /etc/exports
# /etc/exports: NFS file systems being exported. See exports(5).
/home/hedpe/school/PacketSwitching 128.2.140.234(async,no_subtree_check,rw)
rpcinfo:
Code:
monster hedpe # rpcinfo -p
program vers proto port
100000 2 tcp 111 portmapper
100000 2 udp 111 portmapper
100024 1 udp 32765 status
100024 1 tcp 32765 status
100003 2 udp 2049 nfs
100003 3 udp 2049 nfs
100021 1 udp 4001 nlockmgr
100021 3 udp 4001 nlockmgr
100021 4 udp 4001 nlockmgr
100005 1 udp 32767 mountd
100005 1 tcp 32767 mountd
100005 2 udp 32767 mountd
100005 2 tcp 32767 mountd
100005 3 udp 32767 mountd
100005 3 tcp 32767 mountd
i'm not sure if this makes a difference,
but my /etc/hostname and /etc/domainname are not resolvable by the machine that is trying to map one of these drives
for instance:
Code:
hedpe@monster ~ $ cat /etc/conf.d/hostname
# /etc/conf.d/hostname
# $Header: /var/cvsroot/gentoo-src/rc-scripts/etc/conf.d/hostname,v 1.2.4.1 2005/02/19 02:13:53 vapier Exp $
# Set to the hostname of this machine
HOSTNAME="monster"
Code:
hedpe@monster ~ $ cat /etc/conf.d/domainname
OVERRIDE=1
DNSDOMAIN="hednet"
so, the computer that I am trying to map the drive cannot ping "monster" for instance, and hednet does not exist
not sure if this is related
i can post more information if anyone needs it
Thanks!
George
