Can't setup network with rtl8150 usb network adapter

I have IBM Thinkpad 390E and Debian Sarge with 2.4.27 kernel installed on it. Also, I have usb to ethernet adapter rtl8150. Problem is that I cant ping computer connected to laptop (it's Debian system also). Device is rekognized and interface is up (10.0.0.3), and i get correct ping when I ping myself (ping 10.0.0.3). But I get nothing wen I try to ping machine from the other side of the cable (it's crossover cable of course ). These are my lsmod, ifconfig and ping outputs:
Code:
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:E0:4C:60:13:C3
          inet addr:10.0.0.3 Bcast:10.255.255.255 Mask:255.0.0.0

first find if the link (cable) is functional or not by typing "mii-tool" at cmd prompt. if the status is "FULL DUPLEX OK" then the link is in good condition and both the NICs are detecting it. Even if this doesn't solve the problem, reconfigure the network, go to system tools, network control, and deactivate-activate the NICs.
