can't run the same application accross my network with NFS

Hi there,

I tried my best to describe my question in as few words as possible.

I have just set up an NFS server, which I found an incredibly easy task. I have to admit that networking is the greatest thing that came in the computing world.

Coming to my questions, or as a matter of fact my questionS.
  1. I have set up my NFS server and clients to mount the same /home files. Everything works perfectly fine, until I try to run the same application on different clients at once, firefox for example. Since the application gathers information in the /home directory, I get the message that the application is already running. My question is "what can I do to be able to run the same application (firefox) accross many machines of the network?"
  2. The second part of this question is closely related to the first one. How can I kill an application running on another machine, without necessiraly knowing which one?

Thanks in advance for your time and efforts

Cheers

1. You can't run multiple instances of firefox using the same profile directory at once. You could create two profiles and sync them using one of the many extensions available.

2. You have to log in to the remote machine (ssh), find which process you want to kill, and kill it with kill or killall
