hey guys. I have my own internet connection problem here.
I have installed ndiwrapper and installed the proper 64bit driver. Now, at home i'm able to ping anyone on the network and even log into the router and configure it, but as far as goes anything outside the router, i just get:
ping yahoo.com
unknown host
or
ping <ip address for yahoo.com>
not connected to the network
now that's if i'm doing this wirelessly. when i'm connected through lan, it works just fine. this leads me to believe that there is no need to edit my resolv.conf file. i tried using yast to configure my wifi to be the same exact as my lan, but that still doesn't work.
i was at school today, and re configured everything, and i still have the same exact problems. I even have my firewall off, just in case. I don't get it, please help.
Can you manually type in your DNS server entry into the wifi setup in yast? It sounds like you are not getting DNS resolution. Also check your gateway setting and make sure it is pointing to the router/DSL/cablemodem.
With DHCP on the router, your DNS settings are usually pushed to you when you connect. It you've manually set your Class C ip address, you my not be getting that.
Hope I helped. I'm not the sharpest geek in the forum! (I think most of them are out watching star-wars ROTS LOL
hmmmmm....i thought i already tried this, but apparently i didn't...atleast not correctly.
my problem was that eth0 was still running. for some reason, if eth0 is up then wlan0 wont work correctly. all i had to do was ifdown eth0 and wlan0...wait a few seconds, then ifup wlan0 again. and here i am. i swear, though, that i already tried that, dont' know why it works now and not earlier.
