Can't configure MA311
I am trying to replace my existing PCI card with a wireless card but cannot make it work. The old (wired) card is a Netgear FA311 and works fine. The new wireless card is a Netgear MA311.
The PC is a Pentium III which, according to the MA311 istallation guide, satisfies the minimum system requirements.
I am running Redhat 9.0 and I know the MA311 (Orinoco) driver is supposed be included in this distribution.
When I swap out the FA311 for the MA311 and boot up, the system detects that the old card has been removed and allows the config to be removed. It does not however detect that the MA311 has been added.
But, when I view the Gnome Desktop HardwareBrowser->System Devices window it lists the MA311 card as follows:
Prism 2.5 Wavelan chipset
Manufacturer: Harris Semiconductors
Driver: orinoco_pci
Oddly, when the FA311 card is installed (which works) there is no mention of it in the HardwareBrowser->SystemDevices window.
I have looked at other threads relating to the MA311 card and clearly there are known problems. Several replies refer to it working out of the box on Mandrake (.1 and Slackware 9.1 and that therefore it shouldn't be too difficult to get it working on RH - but there's nothing to tell me how.
