Bonding two 100mbit cards to one 200mbit virtual interface in RHEL5

Hello there!

I know how to bond active/passive style bonds, but I would be happy if someone can tell me who to bond two 100mbit ethernet interfaces to one "big" 200mbit bond interface!

I don't want fault tolerance or load balancing, I want the *speed*!

Thanks,

Dmor.

In addition to that, what makes you think that you're even coming close to filling a 100Mb pipe? Be aware that latency is not the same thing as bandwidth. Latency is how quickly you can drive around a race track. Bandwidth is how many cars can drive side-by-side on that race track. Increasing the number of lanes won't let you arrive any faster if it's a really long race track.

Dear Chort

Thank you very much for you quick answer!

Your words are so fine and I understand 100% of what you wrote BUT, still, I just want to know if the Linux OS lets me do what I want and how...!

Please - if you know the answer, I will be glad.

When I'm checking bonding.txt in the networking folder of the kernel-doc package I cannot find relevant answer to my question but it seems so simple...

Thanks again,

Dmor.
