BIND on dialup DSL line causes dial-out every 4-5 min., why?

Hello everybody!

After some experience with linux for desktop use, I´ve just started experimenting
with the setup of a DHCP/DNS/Samba server for home use.

DHCP & Samba is fine, everything works as expected.

My problem is the BIND configuration. DNS itself works fine, but it constantly
causes my DSL router to dial out (i.e. every 4-5 minutes). As i have a time-dependent
rate for my DSL connection, this is really annoying.
Here´s a part from my named.conf:

options {
directory "/var/cache/bind";
forwarders { 192.168.1.2; };
forward only;
listen-on { 192.168.1.1; };
dialup yes;
heartbeat-interval 2880;
};

As you can see, i put in the IP of my DSL router (which works as a DNS proxy)
and i´ve set the dialup option.

A possible explanation that i thought about might be that the dialup option
only works with "real" dialup connections running on the same server/IP address.
Is that right?

If yes, how can i achieve that the DNS only triggers my router if i have a "real"
query, such as when i´m actually browsing the internet?

BTW, i´m using Debian 3.0r1, BIND is version 8.2.1

Thanks everyone,

Ingo.

I'd say try make BIND do verbose logging (from conf, or using rndc) to see what it exactly is querying remote DNS for. Weird thing is the interval tho.
