Backup windows system on linx

Hi.

I'm quiet new in the "linux world", but i want to make a backup script for backing up some windows folders on the linux computer over the network.

I've installed rsync, but i can't work out how it's working...
How do i connect to the windows computer using rsync??

Can anyone please help me...

First read this How to mount remote windows partition (windows share) under Linux @ http://www.cyberciti.biz/nixcraft/vi..._01_index.html then use tar command to make backup for example

mkdir /backup
cd /backup
tar -zcvf ntbackup.tar.gz /mnt/ntserver/DIRECTORY1 /mnt/ntserver/DIRECTORY2

And you are done

But can't you just copy the files to a folder, whout being root...?

I had thought about a script that only backup's the files that have been ubdated since last backup...

something like the cp -u command.
