I have 2 servers one is red hat linux srever which has Mysql database and the other one is win2k srever which has Active Directory.
now I want the information inside the MySQL to authenticate the data inside the Active Directory and save it inside MySQL without changing anything inside the Active Directory because the MySQL DB is only for a specifice task and the Active Direcotry has the whole data of the company.
I hope someone got the idea and please share with me your knowledge
Does MySQL support PAM authentication? If so you can use the pam module from Samba's winbind - I highly recommend experimenting with this in a test environment first, though, it will take a little time and frustration if you haven't used it before. Supposedly you can also authenticate off of AD directly with Kerberos/LDAP, but I haven't had the time to do it myself.
I have my linux boxes configured to authenticate against AD (no local user accounts). I followed the instructions here. But I must admit, I had to do some tweeking to get this AD integration to work properly. Especially the kerberos->PAM part.
