Atheros AR5B93 Issue please help

Hello forum,

I have a little problem at the moment with my wireless configuration! The problem seems to revolve around an encryption problem because I cant ping my router when I un-plug from the ethernet cable. However it says i'm connected. everything looks good and by all rigths I should be able to surf the web. I can connect to un-encrypted APs though, so I know that it is working. I have used Aliens wiki to get everything setup.

http://alien.slackbook.org/dokuwiki/...ckware:network

my wireless adapter is an Atheros AR5B93, the linux distro i'm using is Slackware 13.0. Any help would be great

What type of encryption is active on the the AP? Can you ping anything on the network?

Good luck. ;-)

the encryption type is WPA/WPA2 - Personal also including Wi-Fi Protected Setup : Enabled/Configured. I can only ping with the ethernet cable plugged in but not when its unpludgged and i'm "using wireless" so I can t ping my AP when i'm on wireless. but is says i'm connected and everything looks good. I'm not sure if im missing something in a config file

I know it's the lazy way to do things
BUT
have you tried wcid it's in the slackware/extras packages
it's done a good job for me at local hot spots
it dose a good job setting up encryption on an as needed bases

you most likely already have it so it's worth a try

Hey Peacedog,
as far as I know I have set all the settings outlined in http://alien.slackbook.org/dokuwiki/...ckware:network

as far as I know I configured all the right settings and it should be working.

What does your /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf look like? It wouldn't hurt to try rob's suggestion, just be sure to reset all of the the network scripts to their default values.

Good luck. ;-)

Hey Peacedog & rob.rice,

I dont know how to explain it but my wireless is now working. All I did was boot it up and start X, then I opened firefox and it started working. So ya I dont even know how it got fixed but it is. I just want to thank you both for taking the time to help/ give advice. So I will change the status of this thread as solved.

Thanks again to all that helped
