Talking apache


can someone give me step by step instructions for setting up apache to make a website? i tried the documentation from apache and the o'reilly apache book but they didnt work.

I assumed you installed it from the RPM provided by Suse.
As root, do
Code:
/etc/init.d/apache2 start
that's it, start putting your files in /srv/www/htdocs

access it using http://localhost

now it works with http://localhost
now how do i get it to use a url like www.???.com? i tried it but it doesnt work.

Only for yourself or do you also want other people to access your website using www.???.com

one more thing:

it actually doesnt work with http://localhost
it says that access is forbidden even when im in the root user

can u tell how to get that straighted out?
