Apache 2 is not working right when i try to authenticate users

I have edited .htaccess on the directory

AuthUserFile "/var/www/ivan/.user.pwd"
Require valid-users

Then i have done

Tried to access but even trying the right password it gives me

Code:

Authorization Required

This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

Allow valid-user, no 's'.
Also make sure AllowOverride is as you want it to be.
