How do i set encapsulation and modulation for my ADSL connection? Encapsulation should be = VCMUX, modulation = G.DMT (whatever that means).
Is this something thats handled internally by the modem - Alcatel Speedtouch 330? I seem to be connecting ok and getting decent speeds, but would setting these options speed things up any?
huuuuh wow, what a question.
I **think** it is setted internally by modem (since I don't think the OS get his hands dirty messing with the phone line settings), however, it is probably possible to change it (maybe).
What are you using to connect? I know rp-pppoe install the PPP daemon, i suppose there's some options about encapsulation and modulation you can set in it. Maybe.
I am a DSL technician and don't mess with any of those options they are not gonna affect your speed. They just mainly deal with communication and how stuff is configured on the isp's end and with the backbone.
I have never seen an Alcatel Speedtouch 330. What type of DSL do you have? ADSL? IDSL? Are you in the US?
