untill recently i only had 2 or 3 computers hooked up on the same linksys router. know i acquired a few more computers and need to add them to my network, however i'm out of ports on my linksys router. My question is what should i buy so i can hook the rest of my computer up on the same network, and hopefully the same subnet? Any links or advice would be helpful.
a switch or a hub, I believe- to keep the computers on the same subnet. Unplug one computer from the network, plug in the switch/hub and then replug the computer into the hub, plus any extra computers.
hey thanks titanium_geek for the advice,
i read up on the diff between switches and hubs, and for what i want to do, i going with a switch. Thanks for help again
The geek gave a much better answer than I. I was thinking maybe I should clarify a bit. Forgot to after work yesterday. Yeah, for the same subnet a switch or hub is perfect.
