What types of filesytems are you using under windows?

NTFS? FAT?

It may be as simple as mounting the filesystem.
The following URL talks about this

Most modern distros will access Windows (NTFS) partitions. You might need to mount the partition first.

I go the other way: All data is on ext3 partitions. For the rare occasion that I run Windows and need to access a file, I use the ext2fsd driver for Windows.

With PCLinuxOS-2007, I just click: 'My Computer' > 'Storage Media' > and the partition that hold windows. It mounts, and I can access the files. (fact is I can even open files I can't with windows!)
