accessin windows shares from linux (smbclient)

i have been tring to access windows shares from the linux box with limited success using the command smbclient. sometimes it will log in and function as it should, but, most of the time it won't. it gives me the error session setup failed: nt code (some cryptic code) like i said, though, sometimes it will let me log in. is this a problem with the windows box, or the linux box? what is going on here?

I have found the best thing to do is mount the share using the "smbmount"(win9x machine) or the "mount -t smbfs ..." (winNT) commands.

It might take a bit of playing around to get it to work correctly, but once you find the right command you can simply script it and run the script to connect/disconnect.
