? about ports


I'm looking for a command in the linux prompt that will allow me to see which ports are being used for what?

If you run nmap 127.0.0.1, you'll get a detailed list of all open ports and which services that are using them.

nmap will not show firewalled ports, and may give incosistent results. Use 'netstat' to show ports open, and using the -p option can even show what program is using that port.

additionally use --inet if you dont want to see the UN*X sockets
