I don't have a Zyxel Router. I have a dsl modem from sbc global. Could it be a conflict with the IRQ's that this nic's are on?

How about using one of the many firewall building tools out there. It sure beats trying to figure out how to do a few things. Try this link. http://easyfwgen.morizot.net/gen/ and http://firewall.lutel.pl/?p=d . There are several others. Google around. This is the way I built my setup.

I solved the problem. I went out and bought a linksys wireless-g broadband router. I can get on the both computers are on the internet now. New question, can I still setup SAMBA without the second nic?

That is the best and easiest way to do it. Samba will work great that way. I would either pull the second nic or just leave it disabled.
