I am getting sick and tired of Android, there are bugs here and there, some basic operations worked before no longer works now, such as permission to write to external drive. When I modify a photo and save it to SD it will ask for permission, it asked to select the drive to write to and I click SD, then it said for security reason I can not do that, and ask to create or write to a folder instead, so I did, but then it said I need to select the root of the drive what the heck ! this happened on some apps not all, smarter apps will return error, dumber one simple crashes. Beside that, almost all photo gallery apps I used had 'cached action' problem, that when I delete or rename or overwrite a photo it will take long time to refresh the screen, some times the screen will flashing between old and new thumbnails, some times it said the action completed but I still can't see the photo and the screen is blank, some time it does not delete the photos so I retry, but then it deleted more photos than I asked !!! there are also some other annoyance not to mention, I just wondering, if it is possible to run Android app on a Linux phone, such as the Pinephone Pro ? since I still need many Android apps and there's no Linux alternative so I can't simply give it up, and since Android is Linux I supposed it is possible to run Android apps on a container or something right ? I am not into iPhone, its a good phone but too much limitations, I can not turn off those annoying screen transition effect like I did on Android was the very first thing it put me off.

There is also Mobian which is a fork of Debian. Whether or not you can use your device while traveling is whether or not your mobile service provider will allow you to run an OS other than the standard issue Android that comes on the device from Samsung or one of the many other Android-based phone manufacturers. The reason that I give this warning is that nearly all of the major cellular carriers one way or another lock the baseband radios to their network infrastructure. Now in my case I know that I can flash Mobian onto my PinePhone explore and have it work with AT&T who is my wireless carrier and I wouldn't draw flack or risk them terminating my line of service.
I have yet to try switching my AT&T-issued sim card into my PinePhone Explore would require me to separate the OtterBox case off of my current Google Pixel 6 Pro and wap it into my PinePhone Explore which I don't currently have a case for so if I where to accidentally drop my PinePhone I'd risk possible damage or al to gether loss of my ability to connect either device to AT&ts network infrastructure.
If I were you I'd ask your Wireless phone provider's technical support department if they support a non-standard issue operating system onto their device(S). I can't tell you if your specific wireless phone carrier will even know of these types of situations. There are several different alternative operating systems aimed at folks like you who are more technologically savvy. I'd really advise that you follow a similar approach to the one that joboy recommends.
