Number of Threads using for playing a video file

Hi all

I have a small doubt as I am new to Linux. My experience has mostly been into symbian , brew

My question is I like to know how many threads are there when we play a video file. In symbian we have 5threads namely

main thread(to start the aplication)
Audio thread( used for audio decoder)
Video thread( used for video decoder)
DevSound ( used as the final audio sink ... final case where player comes and plays the audio )
DevVideo ( used for the final video sink.. final case where player comes and plays the video )

This is totally down to the program in question. Some use a single thread, some use more.
